Continuing our theme this week of the three big things your child needs to know before day one Kinder - today coats and jackets.
Your child needs to be wearing comfortable clothing, that then can move around in, for both indoor and outdoor activities. That means the pants can't be too big falling down, or the shirt too tight that arms up is uncomfortable.
But that also includes their outerwear, coats, jackets, hats, and gloves. Can they put their jacket on, and zip it up, by themselves? How about their gloves?
And then can they unzip it, and take it off, with out assistance?
These are important steps, because a teacher with a classroom of kids, where they have to stop and tie every shoe, help on every coat, and zip and unzip - takes too much time away from learning and activities.
Remember the Kinder teacher is not a day care provider.
Here's a good video from a preschool teacher, on how she teaches independence, in case you need some tips. This flip is a game changer for MANY teachers.
Until next time, take care of you!
