These are two BIG questions that are asked again and again both in communities, and online. Will preschool close, because of, and these days usually that next word is covid. But it can be true other times of the year too, especially in places that have severe weather like snow and ice, or hurricanes, tornadoes, or flooding.
And the follow-up is will preschool open? And is usually for the exact same scenarios of the closing question.
Here is the hard part. First Covid, how do you have a preschool that doesn't have kids in close contact? Plus kids are building their immune systems, and they tend to catch normal bugs throughout the year. And yeah, sometimes it's actual bugs - lice anyone?
Plus a lot of people are misinformed, and don't realize how important preschool is in building early education success! So it's often not considered feasible, or essential. And that is disappointing.
So while the answer continues to be a shifting playing field, with a lot of opinions, and few solid answers there are now actual alternatives you can count on. And that is one of the reasons I personally was excited to get behind the concept of online preschool, as an actual solution.
Thanks to technology we can now level the playing field for so many families, and make preschool available year round, as long as you can access the internet. It's great to be part of the new learning path for children, and providing actual affordable options to families, where ever they are located, whatever the season.
Until next time, take care of you!
